The Groz 01473 is a firm-joint outside caliper that holds its position by friction at the pivot, so the legs stay where you put them while you move from the workpiece to your rule, scribe, or layout plate.
Built from high-grade steel and precision machined to rigid standards, the legs taper smoothly to inward-curving tips for measuring external diameters, thicknesses, and shoulder dimensions. A large-bearing fulcrum stud keeps the legs from deflecting sideways under hand pressure, and a finely machined solid nut runs smoothly on the threaded leg to lock the tool exactly to dimension.
The 8-inch capacity covers a wide range of layout, machining, and inspection tasks. Toolmakers, die makers, machinists, fitters, and shop apprentices use the Groz firm-joint design when they want finer adjustment and better balance than a spring caliper provides.
